In this basics course you will learn what digitalisation and signal processing actually mean—and what you actually need in the end for edit & delivery.

How is tension created, and what makes a movie feel immersive? How do we perceive the world through the camera’s eye? In this basics workshop you will explore the most important connections between subjective reality, interpretation, manipulation and dramaturgy of the image and its content, as well as placement and choreography in front of the lens.

What is film language? The illusion of believable worlds and immediate tension is created primarily through manipulation. In the media, every camera angle, cut and sequence of images is never objective, even if you work on a documentary. This is how stories are told emotionally: through skilful psychology. We know it from ads, but it applies to social media too.

How to sell your idea or concept in the film business? Learn what you need for submissions or competitions. What does the official, mainly American, approach require? What is a good story and how can you get people to listen to yours? How can you leave an impression with big players like Netflix? What does their reality look like and what are they actually looking for?
